Web-1 Hosting Data Center

This section of the site is dedicated to the data center housing the servers your web site and email will be hosted on.  Please take a minute to learn all about the benefits our facilities offer in the way of security and redundancy.

Overview

Web-1 Hosting's servers are housed in a data center owned and operated by MCI (formerly Worldcom/UUNET Technologies) in Houston, TX.

The data center is only a few years old and is built on current technology. Many tiering partners are available as the facility is carrier neutral. Web-1 Hosting is connected to the UUNET backbone via tiered, redundant OC-192 fiber optic lines and two Juniper routers.

The data center's local network is power by Cisco© switching devices configured for fail-over and redundancy. Web-1 Hosting has a long standing contract with MCI to maintain the network connecting our servers to the outside world.

Redundant Power

Our servers' power is managed by uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) from Cyberex.

The specifics of the setup include:

• 750 KVA UPS modules
• 1 X 2 protection for all UPS Systems
• 30 min. of battery back up per UPS System

In the event of power outages, the system is backed by dual 2 Megawatt diesel generators. The specifics of the backup system:

• Dual 2 Megawatt generators
• Two 3300 gallon tanks capable of 48 hours of run time at full load
• Automatic transfer upon utility power outage
• Fueling contracts in place for 2 hour response times

It is our goal to ensure that our servers are maintained in an environment that is ready to handle any natural disaster that may occur.

HV Air Conditioning

As you may know, temperature and humidity are key aspects of server life and longevity. The data center's environment is closely monitored and kept in check by its HVAC system:

• 15,200 cubic feet per minute of air flow each unit
• Ambient temperature is maintained at 72 degrees F (+/- 2 degrees)
• Relative humidity maintained at 45% (+/- 5%)

Network

Web-1 Hosting's internet uplink is provided by UUNET, one of the oldest and most well known provides in the nation. Our uplink is built on OC grade fiber connections and equipment:

• Redundant Juniper M160 routers
• Redundant OC-192 10G bit/sec backbone links
• Redundant Cisco switching
• Guaranteed uptime or you don't pay

Rack Enclosures

When a problem does arise, organization is the key to finding and quickly correcting the issue. For this reason all Web-1 Hosting servers are mounted in Telco Grade rack enclosures.
