Email Client Setup

In January 2005 we installed a new mail server that provides virus and spam checking for our new clients.  To setup your email client for the new mail server  you will need to know the following information:

Incoming (POP3) Server Information
  • POP3 Server: mail.web-1hosting.net
  • SSL (secure connection): enabled
  • port: 995
Outgoing (SMTP) Server Information
  • SMTP Server: mail.web-1hosting.net
  • SSL (secure connection): enabled
  • port: 465
  • SMTP Authentication: required (use the same username/password as your POP3 account)
Special Note: on some clients you may get a "Connection Timed Out" error message when sending email if you use port 465 for your outgoing (SMTP) server.  In this case, please change the SMTP port to 2525 and try again.  If you continue to have problems, please contact support.

We have created step-by-step tutorials for the following mail clients:

Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Outlook Express
Mozilla Suite/Netscape (coming soon)
Mozilla Thunderbird (coming soon)
Eudora (coming soon)
